The fifth season of Showtime’s Homeland offered a quick sneak peek of Carrie’s German adventures just before Comic-Con, and now we have an official target date for the next mission. Homeland Season 5 has set an October premiere by its new key art, while critical breakout The Affair will conjure up fluid Season 2 memories on the same date.

According to Showtime’s official announcement, both dramas will return on Sunday, October 4, Homeland airing first at 9:00 P.M., with The Affair Season 2 following immediately thereafter. In addition, both series have stylish new key art for the premiere, admittedly a bit minimalist by Homeland standards.

So reads the official synopsis for Homeland Season 5:

Season five will pick up two years after Carrie Mathison’s ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the ‘war on terror,’ Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm.

In addition to its move abroad, Homeland Season 5 will feature Lord of the Rings alum Miranda Otto as the Berlin Chief of Station, working under Saul, along with Inglourious Basterds star Alexander Fehling as Carrie’s boyfriend and legal counsel for the Düring Foundation, for which Sarah Sokolovic’s American journalist character works.

Meanwhile of The Affair Season 2, Pretty Little Liars star Miranda Rae Mayo will play a new love interest for Joshua Jackson’s Cole, while Joanna Gleason and Richard Schiff also count themselves among the cast. Gleason will play the editor of a well-known publisher, while Schiff will take the role of Bruce (Gotham star John Doman)’s attorney Jon Gottlief.
