When last we saw of Homeland, Carrie Mathison seemed ready to leave the CIA lifestyle behind and concentrate on raising her daughter, but you know what happens to those who think they’re out, right? A new trailer for Homeland Season 5 pulls Carrie right back in, and hands her a sniper rifle, why not?

Showtime debuted a brief new spot for the October-premiering fifth season of Homeland, which looks to pick up with Carrie enjoying a domestic lifestyle, at-least until getting black-bagged and tossed back into action. Judging by the frayed appearance and sniper rifle, might she be made to do someone else’s assassination dirty work?

So reads the official synopsis for Homeland Season 5:

Season five will pick up two years after Carrie Mathison’s ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the ‘war on terror,’ Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm.

In addition to its move abroad, Homeland Season 5 will feature Lord of the Rings alum Miranda Otto as the Berlin Chief of Station, working under Saul, along with Inglourious Basterds star Alexander Fehling as Carrie’s boyfriend and legal counsel for the Düring Foundation, for which Sarah Sokolovic’s American journalist character works.
