Valentine's Day celebrators have but a few weeks to get their act together, but who needs grand romantic gestures when we have the February 14 premiere of Netflix's 'House of Cards' season 2? The long wait for our beloved Kevin Spacey political thriller will soon be up, and we've got a brand-new gallery of photos from the season to celebrate. Let the butchery begin!

We know, "politics" and "excitement" will never go hand in hand as well as the most recent trailers for Netflix's Emmy-nominated drama, but our first look at a new gallery of photos shows plenty of faces familiar and old to draw us back into Francis Underwood's wily web. Among the freshman class, we see 'Dexter' vet Molly Parker and David Clennon, along with such series stars as Robin Wright, Kate Mara, Gerald McRaney, Michael Kelly, and all the old favorites.

So says the ‘House of Cards’ season 2 logline:

In the second season, Francis (Spacey) and Claire (Wright) Underwood continue their ruthless rise to power as threats mount on all fronts. Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara, “American Horror Story”), an up-and-coming reporter and Francis’s former paramour, is inching closer to the truth about his crimes. President Walker’s (Michel Gill, “The Good Wife”) billionaire confidante Raymond Tusk (Gerald McRaney, “Southland”) demands that Francis reciprocate political favors or face retribution. And Claire must confront the increasing glare of the spotlight as it eats away at her and Francis’s once private existence. The Underwood’s must overcome these dangers — past and present — to avoid losing everything, regardless of collateral damage they leave in their wake.

‘House of Cards’ season 2 will see the newly added Sam Page (‘Mad Men‘) and Jimmi Simpson (‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘), a series regular promotion for Michael Gill (President Garrett Walker), and the loss of director David Fincher. In Fincher’s absence, Emmy nominee Robin Wright will step behind the camera to helm episodes of the political series, as will ‘Orange Is the New Blackguest director Jodie Foster, Carl Franklin (‘Homeland‘), James Foley (‘Glengarry Glen Ross’) and John David Coles (‘Justified‘).

We’re still waiting for news of a potential third season, but check out the latest ‘House of Cards’ season 2 photos below, and tell us what butchery you want to see from Francis Underwood this season in the comments!
