If you've watched enough trailers, you've probably noticed that the voice-over and text in trailers is usually innocuous babble meant to get audiences excited about an upcoming film. And though voice-overs for trailers have fallen out of fashion, writer/director/star Lake Bell takes on the absurdity of that universe in her directorial debut 'In a World...'

The trailer for 'In a World...' sets up the challenges facing a female voice-over artist in what's a mostly male-dominated workforce where her father (Fred Melamed) is one of the greats, and highlights Bell's ability to do accents and impressions. It also features a number of familiar faces, including Nick Offerman, Demetri Martin, Ken Marino, Rob Corddry and Eva Longoria. Bell should be a familiar face as well as she's had a number of roles in movies and on television, and currently appears on Adult Swim's 'Children's Hospital.'

'In a World...' premiered at Sundance where it won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, though we were slightly more mixed on the end results. The film is scheduled to open August 9. Here's the film's synopsis:

Carol Solomon, a young female voice coach, joins the all-male race to land the white-hot new trailer of a blockbuster trilogy, and with it lay claim to the legendary trailer catchphrase “In a world .” In doing so, she must battle ingrained industry sexism, ridiculously self-important competitors and even her own father, Sam Sotto, a legendary voice-over artist who can’t bring himself to recognize his daughter’s talent.
