In Memoriam: Owen Sleater, ‘Boardwalk Empire’

Forget Gwyneth Paltrow's head in a box -- the people behind 'Boardwalk Empire' really outdid 'Se7en' by having Owen Sleater's body shipped to Nucky Thompson's home in a crate. What really made Owen's death that much more powerful was his affair with Margaret Thompson -- the pair had promised to run away with each other and escape Nucky's empire of crime, but just when they were cementing their plans, Owen goes off and gets himself killed in a foiled assassination attempt on another crime boss, and if we weren't upset enough about his death, then we have to watch Margaret's horror as she discovers what's in that mysterious crate. Ugh, poor Margaret.
