Fans of 'Insidious' know that the first film ended with one final twist and a bit of a cliffhanger, so it came as no surprise when 'Insidious 2' was announced. Of course, there was always the big question of whether or not it would live up to the sheer terror of the first. With the arrival of the 'Insidious 2' trailer, however, the answer appears to be yes.

Or, more appropriately, the answer appears to be "hell yes" because, my oh my, this thing looks scary. Picking up after the events of the first film, 'Insidious 2' follows the Lambert family as they attempt to pick up the pieces of their lives and live a ghost- and demon-free existence. However, the supernatural world isn't done with them -- a lot of inanimate objects start to move on their own, ghosts manifest suddenly across the room from Rose Byrne, and Patrick Wilson must once again venture into the realm of the undead.

'Insidious' also built a unique mythology around its scares, and it looks like the sequel is going to build on that, while upping the ante in the "things jump into frame with sudden ferocity" department, of course.

Between 'Insidious 2' and 'The Conjuring,' director James Wan appears to have a monopoly on the big horror releases on 2013. If you ask us, the genre couldn't be in better hands. 'Insidious 2' opens on September 13 (which, by the way, is a Friday).
