AMC martial arts drama Into the Badlands managed to eke out a second season some time after the first came to a close, and makes sense that Season 2 would look to turn a few more heads. Enter the next great formidable fighter to join the cast as … Nick Frost … joins the regular cast. Really!

Deadline broke word of the newest Into the Badlands Season 2 regular, specifically that the Hot Fuzz star would play a character named Bajie. The character is described as “a man with questionable morals and who’s always looking for the quick score, he is an irreverent and unlikely new ally to Sunny (Wu).”

AMC previously confirmed a 10-episode order for Into the Badlands Season 2, albeit one that will first premiere in 2017, rather than this year. Before that, series star Daniel Wu had alleged the show’s renewal, only to walk back his comments over social media.

For those unaware, Into the Badlands is a genre-bending martial arts drama loosely based on classic Chinese tale “Journey to the West.” The series chronicles a post-apocalyptic America free of guns, and controlled by feudal barons, in which a ruthless, well-trained warrior Sunny (Wu) and a young boy embark on a journey to find enlightenment.

The series was created by Smallville team Al Gough and Miles Millar, but how else might Into the Badlands Season 2 shake things up?
