Ever since we were lucky enough to sit in on Marvel’s ‘Iron Man 3’ panel at Comic-Con 2012 in July, we’ve been waiting patiently for the studio to cut a trailer that boasts some of the spectacular footage shared in Hall H. So far, Mavel has been mum as director Shane Black continued to film his sequel with Robert Downey Jr. in Wilmington, NC. But we’re starting to hear rumblings of a potential trailer. When do you think we’ll see it?

It’s sounding like October, according to Screen Rant, which quotes Marvel Co-President Louis D’Esposito as saying that an official trailer hasn’t been cut yet, but he expects it to reach theaters in the next six weeks (or mid-October). Granted, we have said this before, but D'Esposito was responding to reports that ‘Iron Man 3’ footage screened at a premiere event for the upcoming ‘Avengers’ DVD release.

We know this much: There’s ‘Iron Man 3’ footage out there (as it screened in San Diego), and from what we saw, Black’s living up to Jon Favreau and Joss Whedon’s Marvel legacy.

Here’s what we know about ‘Iron Man 3’ to date. Downey Jr. will step back into the red and gold suit, and will pick up where ‘Avengers’ left off. The film will trace the ‘Extremis’ storyline from the Iron Man comics, but also will make room for Iron Man’s classic villain, The Mandarin (played by Sir Ben Kingsley).

Marvel plans to have ‘Iron Man 3’ in theaters on May 3, 2013. There’s also a chance the trailer could be attached to Tim Burton’s ‘Frankenweenie’ on October 5. That’s a Buena Vista release. If not, then maybe with Paramount’s ‘Paranormal Activity 4.’ Though, expect us to have it on the site as soon as it goes live. What do you hope to see in the ‘Iron Man 3’ tease, whenever we’re able to see it?
