The former 'Twin Peaks' star and recent 'How I Met Your Mother' guest has joined NBC's buzz-worthy J.J. Abrams pilot 'Believe,' but will lightning strike twice for NBC following the success of its other Abrams-produced series 'Revolution?' Find out MacLachlan's new role inside!

Having built up quite a stable of TV appearances in recent months, from 'How I Met Your Mother' to 'Portlandia' to 'The Good Wife,' it seems former 'Twin Peaks' star Kyle MacLachlan is eying a more permanent home on the small screen. TVLine reports that MacLachlan will take a role in NBC's forthcoming J.J. Abrams pilot 'Believe,' as that of a mysterious billionaire.

Written by Alfonso Cuaron and produced by Abrams and Bryan Burk, 'Believe' follows the unlikely relationship between a gifted young girl (Johnny Sequoyah) and an ex-convict ('Savages‘ Jake McLaughlin) who has been been chosen to protect her her from the evil forces that hunt her power. Playing Skouras, a billionaire with a mysterious agenda, MacLachlan also joins Delroy Lindo, Jamie Chung and Sienna Guillory.
