We're starting to get excited about the release of 'Jack Reacher.' Sure, this December has some hotly anticipated films like 'Django Unchained' and 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,' but after last year's 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' we're happy to spend two hours watching Tom Cruise in action.

And that's exactly what these TV spots suggest. Sure, Cruise might seem a little too old and short to fill the shoes of the novel's version of Jack Reacher, but in these two spots he handles himself quite well.

We're also excited because this is the first time in over a decade that Christopher McQuarrie has been in the director's chair. But it seems that he and Cruise are getting along swimmingly. The duo first worked together on 'Valkyrie,' and now this, while McQuarrie also wrote the currently filming Cruise-vehicle 'All You Need is Kill' and is in talks to handle the fifth 'Mission: Impossible' film.

For those who haven't seen McQuarrie's 'Way of the Gun,' it's an underseen gem that has a great car chase where the vehicles rarely get above ten miles an hour. 'Jack Reacher' opens December 21. Here are those TV spots:
