Even with Jamie Foxx‘s busy year starring in everything from ‘White House Down‘ to ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ we had been excited to see the ‘Django Unchained‘ star return to TV by writing, directing and producing a horror anthology series for Syfy this fall. Now, scheduling conflicts have forced Foxx to postpone the project, potentially moving it to 2014 or beyond.

Deadline revealed the abrupt shift in development, said to have stemmed from Foxx’s undefined scheduling conflicts. Seeing as the anthology series would most likely fit among the cable network’s “31 Days of Halloween” promotional period, the project may end up pushed to 2014. Foxx will meet with Syfy in the coming weeks after his ‘White House Down’ duties to suss out a schedule.

Written, directed and produced by Foxx, the untitled series was to draw inspiration from ‘Tales From The Crypt’ and ‘The Twilight Zone,’ telling creepy morality tales with themes of envy, jealousy and superficiality. “This is a project that I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’m so happy to see it come to life,” said Foxx in the original statement. “Get ready to lose it when some special friends and I bring the scares this October, and who knows…maybe I’ll make a guest appearance or two along the way!”

Troy Miller (who’s been involved with ‘‘Flight of the Conchords’ and ‘Mr. Show’ among many others) had been tapped to be the executive producer of the miniseries with production company Dakota Pictures, along with Foxx, writer Jeff Stilson, Jaime King and Julie Yorn. Additional writers on the project include Mike Ferris (‘Terminator: Salvation’) and John Pogue (‘Army Wives’).

We’ll keep our ear to the ground to see what Syfy and Foxx come up with, but what say you? Are you disappointed Foxx’s Syfy horror series may not happen this year?
