The spotlight in the DC Extended Universe is squarely on women right now. Wonder Woman is still tying moviegoers in knots; just one more good weekend will make it the second biggest DCEU movie in the U.S., and it could pass Batman v Superman for the top spot not long after. Princess Diana will get back in the spotlight in Justice League this fall, and last summer was all about Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn stealing scenes from Will Smith and the rest of the Suicide Squad. Basically DC sisters are doing it for themselves.

The focus on strong females led to the birth of a project called Gotham City Sirens which would spin off Robbie’s Quinn (and Suicide Squad director David Ayer) into their own movie with other lovable (and as-yet unconfirmed) lady baddies. But where Harley Quinn goes, the Joker tends to follow. So it only stands to reason (or speculate wildly) that Jared Leto might reprise his role as the Clown Prince of Crime in the film.

He was asked about that possibility in the video above. The transcript of his response:

I have no idea. I can’t confirm ... maybe I know, but I can’t confirm or deny. There are a lot of moving parts with that stuff and we’ll see what happens next.

Leto also had very positive things to say about Wonder Woman. “They did such an incredible job,” he told Entertainment Tonight, accurately summing up the experience of seeing the film in theaters. Leto certainly didn’t shoot down the possibility he’ll appear in Gotham City Sirens. At this point, we’ll just have to wait and see. And maybe go see Wonder Woman again in the meantime.
