Jimmy Fallon and Gwyneth Paltrow Give the Broadway Treatment to Hip Hop Jams

EDIT
|

Of course, the real joke of ‘Tonight Show‘ host Jimmy Fallon‘s adoration for translating current rap and hip hop songs into Broadway versions is simple, it’s in the text. It’s current songs made into Broadway versions. Easy! But the difference between an okay “Broadway covers” sketch and a great one is how much Fallon and his chosen guest sell it.

On last night’s show, Fallon and guest Gwyneth Paltrow sold it—hard. It’s hard to imagine that a world will ever exist where Fallon and Paltrow need to reinvent themselves as lounge singers, like, for a living, but how we wish it were so. The banter between the two during this sketch, Paltrow’s over-the-top “I am performing!” voice, Fallon’s giddy grin, it’s just all golden. At least we know that the pair always has a feasible back-up career just waiting in the wings for them.
