After months of rumors and half-truths, everything about the new Spider-Man has come together in the past few weeks. Actor Tom Holland officially signed on to play the new wall-crawler. Director Jon Watts was hired to helm the next Spider-Man movie. And now, Marvel COO Joe Quesada has started talking up the new costume, using words like “awesome” and phrases like “blow people away.”

Look, of course one of the guys with the biggest stake in Marvel Comics is going to say exclusively nice things about the new cinematic costume of the company’s flagship character, especially since Marvel Studios will be partnering with Sony on the new movie (which will take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe). Still, Quesada is a real fan at heart and even drew Spider-Man for a while before stepping into his leadership position at Marvel. Here’s what he said in an interview with IGN, where his enthusiasm is palpable:

It looks awesome. I’ve seen a lot of design work that’s been done on the costume. I think there are elements of it that are really going to blow people away, where they are going to go ‘Ah, that’s Marvel doing Spider-Man.’… It’s Spider-Man. What’s not exciting about that? I can’t imagine there’s a person on planet Earth that can’t relate to some aspect of Spider-Man or Peter Parker, and he is for all intents and purposes, he is Marvel’s Mickey Mouse. He is that icon of so much of what we have was built upon, so to create that movie along with our Sony partners it’s phenomenally exciting. I know Kevin Feige and his team, they’ve some great ideas, some wonderful theories that we have all chimed in on. What’s funny about Spider-Man is that you sit there and you’re at a creative meeting and everybody goes ‘Well what about this? Yeah, of course! That’s what we should be doing, that’s Spider-Man!’ We all seem to be of the same mind about Spider-Man, because there are certain aspects of the character that are just iconic and have been perfect since the moment they were created.

Previously, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has spoken about wanting the new outfit to actually look like something the teenage Peter Parker could have cooked up himself, which means we probably won’t be getting something as polished as the costumes in Sam Raimi and Marc Webb’s films. And that’s great! It’s already going to be crazy to watch this young, awkward kid interact with the Avengers. His costume should look like it was made on a budget, which will only enhance the divide between him and Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.

We may be seeing the new costume sooner than you think. Holland’s Spidey will be introduced in Captain America: Civil War, which is currently filming in Atlanta. If past superhero movie shoots are any indication, the paparazzi will soon supply the internet with plenty of shots of the new suit. However, that means Marvel may choose to beat them to the punch and release an official still early on, maybe even within the next month or two.

The new Spider-Man movie (which was at one time rumored to be called Spider-Man: The New Avenger) will hit theaters on June 28, 2017. Look for Holland’s first appearance as the character in Captain America: Civil War on May 6, 2016.
