We know that Josh Brolin is playing the extremely big bad Thanos for Avengers: Infinity War, and we’ve seen Thanos in some short scenes before, but it looks like he’ll be getting a lot more to do in the next superhero team-up movie than sitting in a very large chair. We even saw him walking around during some preliminary motion-capture tests! We also know that the heroes traditionally get some subtle costume upgrades movie to movie, so it’ll also be exciting to see if Thanos is getting a new-ish look too.

Today, Brolin himself posted an Instagram revealing a side-by-side comparison of himself and his character. Take a look.

He sure looks pretty Brolin-y, more so than he has in the past. He still has those lines criss-crossing his mouth, but is looks like they’ve given him a new chin that’s smaller and more manageable. Thanos will be done using motion-capture, but, if this is the final design for his facial features it’s clear that they want him to look as much like Brolin as possible. And, why not, if they’re going to cast an actor with such a recognizable face?

He also looks  a whole lot scarier in this photo than he has in the past. Before, most of Thanos’ intimidating look came from is sheer size, but for some reason here he looks pretty darn evil. Maybe it’s the dark shadows around his beady eyes. Sure hope they keep that look.

Saying that Infinity War has a stacked cast would be the biggest understatement of the year, and with Brolin joining in on the action, this movie is setting up quite a ride.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May 4, 2018.
