Say what you will about Warner Bros., but they’ve always saved some of their best Justice League footage for Comic-Con. Last year we were treated to our first extended look at the DCEU entry; this year the studio has raised the stakes, giving us some actual footage of the Justice League villain in action. Oh, and this trailer also seems to emphasize the heck out of the world of Wonder Woman - including a scene set entirely in Themyscira - indicating that they know exactly who their most popular superhero is going forward. It’s probably not a coincidence that there’s more Gal Gadot in this trailer than anyone else.

Another positive for the future of the franchise: there’s no shortage of humor present in the trailer. From Ezra Miller‘s Flash confessing that his crimefighting typically involves pushing some people and running away to the casual hair flip Jason Momoa‘s Aquaman does after crashing through an abandoned building, Justice League seems to be bringing together some brevity alongside its superhero action sequences. The trailer also features an interesting nod to the future of the DCEU, with Ciarán Hinds‘ Steppenwolf noting that there are “no Lanterns here, no Kryptonian,” suggesting that the events of Justice League take place before any kind of Green Lantern movie might occur. File that one away for later consideration.

Here’s the full plot synopsis for Justice League:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes - Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash - it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League will take theaters by storm on November 17, 2017.
