The summer may be entering its final weeks, but as this new 'Kick-Ass 2' clips reminds us, there are still plenty of geek-friendly movies on the horizon. Are you excited for the return of Kick-Ass, Hit-Girl and their motley band of allies and enemies? If so, this scene will undoubtedly please you. For better or worse, it looks a lot like the original.

It may not have been the biggest film at Comic-Con 2013, but Jeff Wadlow's follow-up to the 2010 "real life superhero" movie certainly got our attention with that extended trailer. Although original director Matthew Vaughn did not return for the sequel, this one appears to be almost identical to to the first film in terms of tone and content, layering black humor on top of gruesome and insane action scenes.

This clip is light on the gruesome and insane action but heavy on the black humor, with Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) proposing an official partnership with Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz). Naturally, the 15-year-old badass takes offense to being his "Robin," leading to the world's fastest/worst training session, where the pint-sized killer shows him a thing or two. Kick-Ass may be the title character, but let's face it: Hit-Girl is the real reason to watch this series.

'Kick-Ass 2' will be unleashed in theaters on August 16, 2013.
