From ‘The Dark Knight’ to ‘Knight of Cups’: The first trailer for director Terrence Malick’s latest film has arrived and it’s ... super Terrence Malick-y. Shots of beaches! People walking slowly! Solemn voiceover narration! Other people walking slowly—on beaches! I was one glimpse of Christian Bale running his hand through a field of thistles from winning Terrence Malick Bingo!

As the beginning of the trailer indicates, Malick’s latest film—his first since 2012’s ‘To the Wonder’—will debut at the Berlin Film Festival next February. Not much is known about the plot; previously, ‘Knight of Cups’ was said to be about “people in the film business, with Bale taking on the lead role of an insecure womanizer.” That might still be what this movie is about, but who knows? Even the Berlin Film Festival’s official website offers no additional plot details. The title refers to a tarot card; Keen.com says the card appears “when you are inspired but not productive, when you have champagne taste but a wine cooler budget, when a smooth-talking person in your life has big plans but no resources.” So, y’know, that explains everything.

Malick is infamous for shooting lots of stuff—and even lots of actors—that never make his films’ final cut. The trailer features Bale, Cate Blanchett, and Natalie Portman, plus glimpses of people like Antonio Banderas and Jason Clarke; the film’s IMDb also lists people like Nick Offerman, Wes Bentley, Imogen Poots, Joe Maganiello, and Joel Kinnaman. Some (or all) of those actors may show up in the finished film, or they may be cut entirely. For all we know the Knight of Cups himself will be cut out to make room for extra shots of blowing thistles. All will be revealed, though, in Berlin next February.
