'The Last of Us' Might Be Getting its Own Movie AdaptationBritt Hayes |
Add 'The Last of the Us' to the pile of projects ready to capitalize on the popularity of zombies in pop culture ... maybe. It looks like Sony has registered some highly suspect domain names, leading us to believe that the corporation is preparing for a film adaptation of its incredibly popular video game 'The Last of Us.' It is the day after Thanksgiving, so there's no better way to celebrate than by capitalizing on a sure thing.
IGN points out that Sony has registered the domains TheLastofUs-Movie.com and TheLastofUsmovie.net, which seems to indicate that the company is in the early stages of planning a film adaptation of its popular video game. While nothing official has been announced, it's a pretty safe speculation.
The game follows Joel, a survivor who must escort a young girl named Ellie through a post-apocalyptic United States in 2033 to get her to a resistance group. It is believed that Ellie's DNA holds the key to curing the viral infection that has turned the population of the world in zombie-like creatures.
While Sony might just be thinking ahead (maybe someone had some turkey coma-induced thoughts yesterday), zombies are a hot commodity right now, with titles like 'The Walking Dead' and 'World War Z' proving popular with fans and audiences.
