Pilots can look very different form their initial airings to the time a series debuts in the fall.  Not in a liquid metal changing-your-shape kind of way, but more of a customizable machine, with different parts swapped in and out to foster whatever works best.  What were we talking about?  Oh, right!  ABC's 'Last Resort' just can't keep Robert Patrick at bay, even with a vat of molten steel.

Upgrading his role from that of the series' pilot, ABC has decided to make former 'Terminator 2' star Robert Patrick a series regular for their forthcoming naval drama 'Last Resort.'  Boasting a cast that includes Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman, Dichen Lachman and Autumn Reeser, the Shawn Ryan-produced 'Last Resort' follows the crew of a U.S. nuclear submarine who become fugitives after refusing to fire their missiles. They make their stand on an island that hosts a NATO listening station and proclaim themselves to be an independent nuclear nation.

Initially, Patrick's role as the USS Colorado's Master Chief Joseph Prosser had been limited to the pilot episode.  It remains to be seen how the former 'X-Files' vet's character exited the pilot episode, potentially necessitating any re-shoots. The show will air on ABC Thursdays this fall in the prime lot of 8/7 Central.

What say you?  Were you excited for the series already, before Robert Patrick signed on full time?  Which of ABC's other pilots are you most interested in?  Write your fall schedule in the comments!
