Leonardo DiCaprio has just won Best Actor in a comedy film at the 2014 Golden Globes, announced during the live awards ceremony on Sunday, January 12, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

As the actor joked on stage, DiCaprio couldn't believe he would win an award for a comedy, as 'The Wolf of Wall Street' is probably the most risque "comedy" of the year -- one of the opening scenes is of the actor playing Jordan Belfort snorting drugs from the backside of a prostitute. And that's just the very tip of the proverbial iceberg!

Nominated for the award besides DiCaprio were Christian Bale ('American Hustle'), Bruce Dern ('Nebraska'), Oscar Isaac ('Inside Llewyn Davis') and Joaquin Phoenix ('Her').

From the official description by Paramount:

Revered filmmaker; Martin Scorsese directs the story of New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio). From the American dream to corporate greed, Belfort goes from penny stocks and righteousness to IPOs and a life of corruption in the late '80s. Excess success and affluence in his early twenties as founder of the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont warranted Belfort the title – “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Also starring in the film are Jonah Hill and breakthrough star Margot Robbie.
