It’s been over a year since Blade Runner 2 tapped Sicario director Denis Villeneuve to helm, with Ryan Gosling joining Harrison Ford in the long-developing sequel to Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic. With filming slated to begin this summer, the project is really starting to come together, with Robin Wright joining the cast as of yesterday, while today brings an interesting potential new addition: Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista.

Bautista posted this intriguing photo to Instagram (via iO9):

Yes, that’s the origami unicorn that Edward James Olmos’ Gaff leaves for Harrison Ford’s Deckard to find at the end of Blade Runner. Depending on which version you watch, the unicorn’s significance varies slightly, though most agree it confirms that Deckard is actually a Replicant — a notion supported by Ridley Scott in recent years.

In any case, it looks like Bautista is the latest addition to Blade Runner 2, joining Ryan Gosling and Robin Wright, with Ford set to reprise his iconic role as Deckard. Original cinematographer Roger Deakins (who lensed Villeneuve’s Sicario) is also set to return for the sequel, which will hit theaters on January 12, 2018. But with the project heading into production this summer (and with January typically a cinematic dumping ground), it’s possible that date will shift — hopefully to sooner rather than later.

Bautista, meanwhile, is returning to the role of Drax for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which arrives on May 5, 2017.
