Louis C.K. years earlier broke our hearts with the news that FX’s ‘Louie’ season 4 would be pushed to 2014, and while season 5 will have its own caveat of reduced episodes, we’ll have the Emmy-winning dramedy back even sooner than we hoped. ‘Louie’ season 5 has set its official April premiere, while FX has also plotted the debuts of Billy Crystal’s ‘The Comedians’ and 2014 breakout ‘You’re the Worst.’

Per FX’s official announcements at the TCA press tour panel, Billy Crystal/Josh Gad starrer ‘The Comedians’ will debut on the network April 9, with the season 5 premiere of ‘Louie’ immediately to follow. The fifth season of the sad-sack comedian’s vignette brand of storytelling will also take place over eight episodes, down from the usual 13, partly owing to C.K.’s direction of writing partner Pamela Adlon in her own FX pilot, ‘Better Things,’ as well as the comedian’s touring and film work.

Elsewhere, the second season of critical darling ‘You’re the Worst’ will likely arrive in the summer, moved to FXX. Network president John Landgraf also spoke to the mixed successes of ‘YTW’ and Judy Greer dramedy ‘Married,’ noting that the former appeared on an impressive amount of critical year-end lists, and ‘Married,’ too, gained steam as it unfolded across its first season.

Well, what say you? Are you happy to have ‘Louie’ season 5 premiering on April 9, even with reduced episodes? What make you of ‘The Comedians,’ or a second season of ‘You’re the Worst?’
