Louis C.K. didn’t offer any warning in releasing his brand-new original streaming series Horace and Pete, so it stands to reason the end would arrive with equally measured fanfare. The comedian confirms the recent tenth episode as the series’ last, even if the promotional campaign has only just begun.

Following a round of interviews suggesting that the self-financed original series had temporarily placed him into debt, C.K. confirmed to fans over the weekend that Horace and Pete would end with the tenth episode, upgrading the pricing options on his website in the process:

Hi. So. That was it. I didn’t want to say, in the last email, that it was the last episode. Because I didn’t want you to know, as you watched the episode, that it would be the last one. But yeah, obviously, That was it.

C.K. went on to detail that fans could purchase the entire season for $31 ($5 for the premiere, $2 for the second and $3 every episode after), deliberately matched to those who’d purchased the series episode by episode. Another option will complete the library of whatever episodes already purchased, all at the same respective prices.

I chose to do the show this way, knowing that it would be a quiet and strange experiment and that only a few of us would take part in this stage of it, that has just ended. The creating, unfolding and watching of the show, one episode at a time, from nothing. I am grateful to all of you that took this trip with me the way that you did, not knowing what you were getting, how much you were getting or how it would all feel. I was right there with you. I didn’t know how any of this would go or feel.

C.K. will continue to promote the series into the summer, pushing for Emmy nominations this coming fall as well, but might the end of Horace and Pete free C.K. up to start thinking about FX’s Louie again?
