[UPDATE - The trailer has been removed at the request of the studio.]

Is it possible to follow the standard biopic template when the subject of your film is one of the most famous former porn stars of all time? From the new 'Lovelace' trailer, it sure looks like directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman are trying. This thing hits every beat you'd expect for a movie based on the life of a noteworthy person ... except that you replace music/sports/politics/etc. with starring in 'Deep Throat.'

'Lovelace' stars Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace, who became a national celebrity after starring in 'Deep Throat,' an adult film that turned into an unexpected sensation, and later denounced pornography and became an anti-porn advocate. The great Peter Sarsgaard co-stars as her domineering husband, Chuck Traynor; the sometimes-great James Franco plays a young Hugh Hefner; the rest of the cast is rounded out by Juno Temple, Sharon Stone, Robert Patrick, Chris Noth, Adam Brody, Hank Azaria, Wes Bentley, Eric Roberts, Chloe Sevigny and Bobby Cannavale. In other words, this may be one of the most impressively cast porn-star biopics you'll ever see.

Although it received mixed reviews out of the Sundance Film Festival, 'Lovelace' looks far too interesting to ignore. The trailer may not sell a unique film, but conceptually, we're very much intrigued.

'Lovelace' will hit in limited release on August 9, 2013.
