Scarlett Johansson with superpowers? No, it's not a Marvel movie. 'Lucy' is directed by Luc Besson, the guy behind 'The Professional,' and a newly released extended clip for the film showcases another strong female ass-kicker from Besson.
It may not seem like it in this 'Lucy' clip, but Scarlett Johansson's title character starts off the film as a damsel in distress. She's forced to become a drug mule for some shady individuals, but when the drug she's transporting in her stomach leaks out, she's infused with acute senses that evolve into near godlike abilities. If you wanted to see Black Widow throw down some NSFW, blood-spattered beatings while wielding telekinesis, this is the film for you.
Aside from ScarJo, Morgan Freeman is among the supporting cast, as well as Analeigh Tipton, who's that woman you know from placing third in 'America's Next Top Model' cycle 11 and went on to star in 'Warm Bodies.' (Don't ask how I know that.)
'Lucy' opens in theaters July 25 and will kick off three weeks of films about super-powered individuals (first 'Lucy,' then 'Guardians of the Galaxy' a week later, and 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' after that).
