Viewers were certainly in for quite a shock this season of 'Mad Men,' with all the surprising twists and unexpected departures, but one question certainly lingered by the end of the year.  With Peggy Olson finally taking the plunge and departing Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce for greener pastures, will Elisabeth Moss be back for the inevitable season 6?  What series creator Matthew Weiner has to say may surprise you.

Departing the firm can be a tricky thing for 'Mad Men,' as for seasons at a time we've not heard from characters like Sal Romano, or until this year Paul Kinsey.  Even January Jones has held limited screen time as Betty Francis following her divorce of Don, so 'Mad Men' season 5 viewers have to be wondering, what of Peggy Olson?  Does leaving behind Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce mean we're saying goodbye to the character?

Speaking at the recent Television Critics Association panel, 'Mad Men' creator Matthew Weiner assured reporters this wouldn't necessarily be the case.  Notoriously avoiding of spoilers, Weiner was willing to offer the following of Peggy Olson:

I can’t say how much, in what capacity or what [her story] is going to be, but she has not left the show...When people leave Sterling Cooper, sometimes it is the end for [the character].   But I will spoil that one tiny piece of anticipation and tell people that Elisabeth [Moss] will be showing up to work.

Weiner also confirmed that even without a proper contract in place overall, 'Mad Men' would live on through at least season 7.  “We cannot rely on the official language of things. There will be a Season 7,” he says. “Jon Hamm is signed on for it, I’m signed on for it… I mean, if Season 6 has one viewer… but I don’t think [ratings] is what it’s about.  I think Season 7 has already been internationally sold… It’s going to happen.”

Good news for 'Mad Men' fans overall, and even better news for Elisabeth Moss!  What say you?  How do you think 'Mad Men' season 6 will manage to keep Peggy Olson in the story if she's no longer working with Don, Pete, Joan and the rest?  Give us your theories in the comments!
