The creator of Kingsman and Kick-Ass is taking his first step into Netflix. Months after the streaming service announced its acquisition of Mark Millar’s comic empire, the artist debuts a first look at forthcoming comic series The Magic Order.

Millar debuted several new pages during his appearance at Chicago’s C2E2 convention, including a glimpse of “the first franchise he has created for Netflix.” The six-issue comic series follows five families of magicians battling a shadowy enemy out to thin their ranks, and will be available for sale beginning June 13. Millar writes with Marvel legend Olivier Coipel, and you can check out the panels below the synopsis:

We live in a world where we’ve never seen a monster and these people are the reason we sleep safely in our beds. Magic meets the mob in The Magic Order, as five families of magicians sworn to protect our world for generations must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day they live among us as our neighbors, friends and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness…unless the darkness gets them first.

In addition to Kingsman, Wanted and Kick-Ass, Millar is largely regarded for his involvement in such iconic comics as the Old Man Logan run that inspired the film, and the Ultimates comic that influenced Marvel’s Avengers. For the moment, it remains unclear how Netflix’s acquisition of Millarworld will translate into original content – whether TV or movies.

The Magic Order certainly looks like it has the visual flair to fit either medium, but stay tuned for the latest in the meantime.
