Back in black? In mourning for Phil Coulson? These are the questions asked of Marvel's forthcoming ABC series, 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,' which today debuted an enigmatic billboard around Los Angeles, presumably in preparation for its appearance at Comic-Con 2013. The new promotion will certainly catch the eye of anyone who passes, but what about the new Joss Whedon-helmed TV series does it reveal?

Perhaps the new S.H.I.E.L.D. team, under Agent Coulson, has its own special black ops logo, or at least an abundant of black paint in the supply closet. It certainly doesn't illuminate what we'll see from Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' at its upcoming Comic-Con presentation, but it certainly inflames the imagination.

While we wait, Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ features a cast that includes Clark Gregg’s resurrected Agent Phil Coulson, as well as Whedon vet J. August Richards, ‘ER’ doc Ming-Na as veterant agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as hacker Skye, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, and Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker as science team Gemma Simmons and Leo Fitz. Nick Fury himself, Samuel L. Jackson, previously stated that he expected to be involved in some small capacity, while ‘How I Met Your Mother‘ and ‘The Avengers‘ star Cobie Smulders remains open to the possibility (but from the sounds of the trailer, she might just pop up after all).

We've included Entertainment Weekly's shot of the mysterious 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' billboard below, but what do you think it means? Give us your predictions for the new series in the comments, as we count down to Comic-Con!
