Apart from a resurrected Agent Coulson, Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' excites us the most for its ability to tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe on a weekly basis, rather than waiting for each individual movie. So, which of Marvel's upcoming slate will have the most direct tie into 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?' Why, 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' says series star Clark Gregg!

Speaking to IGN on everything from 'Much Ado About Nothing' to 'The Avengers 2,' Gregg explained that his own excitement for 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' stemmed from the ability to flesh out future Marvel movies, specifically mentioning 'Captain America 2' as a point of connection.

"The exciting part is going to be seeing the way that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. interacts with the S.H.I.E.L.D. component in Captain America 2, and the other movies, and whether those movies will then effect our show," said Gregg. "Marvel uses everything at their disposal and that nothing will happen on our show that will not impact, or be impacted by, the movies."

More specifically, Gregg teased that 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' would see his character Phil Coulson in a leadership role, taking on a "ragtag" group to deal with old and new S.H.I.E.L.D. business off the radar. After all, the events of 'The Avengers' drastically changed the landscape for extraordinary people among the world:

Most specifically in a world after The Avengers where suddenly the world has watched the battle of New York and they know about Asgard, and they know about Chitauri, and alien invaders and superheroes and there's a lot of people who want in.

As for the biggest question of all, Gregg revealed that the pilot episode of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' would see some manner of explanation for Coulson's return from the dead, but whether or not that explanation proves true will remain to be seen.

What say you? Are you excited to see future Marvel movies with the 'Agents of SHIELD' TV series in mind? How would you like to see the "ragtag" group tie into the franchise going forward? Lets watch that trailer one more time as we wait for Comic-Con 2013, and give us your thoughts in the comments!
