Matthew Perry Explains to Seth Meyers Why He Almost Didn’t Star in ‘Friends’

Wait Matthew Perry, what? The big news in this new clip from Late Night With Seth Meyers isn’t that Perry almost didn’t star in Friends, it’s that he almost didn’t star in Friends because he was previously committed to a show about an airport ... in the future. The show was called LAX 2194 and Perry actually did film a pilot, which was never bought because the show was terrible.

At the time, Perry was committed to the program because he desperately needed money, which made it all the more painful when Friends came around (back then, it was called Friends Like Us) and Perry loved it. That damn airport show almost stopped him! Not to worry, though, because Perry explained to host Seth Meyers last night how exactly things worked out (no, really, it was because the future airport show was just plain terrible).
