Let's face it: the question was never "Will Michael Caine join the cast of 'Interstellar?'", it was "When will we hear about Michael Caine joining the cast of 'Interstellar?'" The answer is right now. The legendary actor has officially signed on to join the mysterious science fiction film and it will mark the sixth time he's worked with director Christopher Nolan.

As you surely know, Caine had roles in 'Batman Begins,' 'The Prestige,' 'The Dark Knight,' 'Inception' and 'The Dark Knight Rises,' becoming Nolan's go-to guy to play warm, sympathetic characters who end up getting involved in cold and ruthless situations. In fact, he's often been the heart of Nolan's cerebral films, balancing the filmmaker's intellectual style with his raw humanity. His casting in 'Interstellar' is only a good thing.

Caine joins a cast that already includes Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain and newly minted Oscar winner (and former Catwoman), Anne Hathaway. The script, written by Jonathan Nolan, is based on a concept that's been floating around Hollywood for quite some time and is said to be a hard science fiction story about space travel (you may recall that Steven Spielberg was attached to director at one point).

'Interstellar' is set to arrive on November 7th, 2014.
