Whether or not you like the idea of the Xbox One always being online, Microsoft has offered an opinion on why it's beneficial for fans of multiplayer games.

According to Polygon, Microsoft Game Studios vice president Phil Spencer said that the current prominence of online gaming wouldn't make the always-online requirement a large issue and that most people game with their friends anyway.

Spencer said, "You see so many of these large games that are out there that rely on and are kind of made by the connection people have with their friends, and how they play cooperatively and competitively with the millions of people on Xbox Live and other ecosystems," he said. "It's a predominant form of gaming today."
