Did you miss any of the highlights of the 2016 award season when they were still in theaters? That’s where our series, On Demand With ScreenCrush, comes in. Every two weeks, ScreenCrush Editor-in-Chief Matt Singer joins you to recommend three handpicked new titles you can watch at home right now from Movies on Demand. These are big new releases you won’t find streaming on Netflix, and the choices run the gamut from indie favorites, to major blockbusters, to insightful documentaries, and everything in between — all available with your remote.

In our fourteenth episode, we’re looking back to Sunday’s Academy Awards telecast with three more of the year’s biggest contenders. Ruth Negga was nominated for Best Actress for her role in Loving, based on the true story of the couple who challenged Virginia’s law banning interracial marriage. A battle of a much more violent sort is the subject of Best Picture nominee Hacksaw Ridge, the new film from director Mel Gibson. Gibson’s movie about a conscientious objector fought for top Oscar honors with Arrival, starring Amy Adams as a linguist tasked with figuring out why a bunch of alien ships have suddenly descended on the Earth.

On Demand With ScreenCrush is an original series about the world of movies. This is our fourteenth episode, but we’ll be back with a new show in two weeks. Plus, we want your feedback. What are you watching On Demand this month? Which 2016 and 2017 releases are you looking forward to seeing again? What did you think of our recommendations? Let us know, and don’t forget to subscribe to the ScreenCrush YouTube channel below to catch all our future episodes.
