Movie Myths: The Bond Girl Who Was Really a Man

One of James Bond's lovely women was really a man -- Caroline Cossey, who appeared in 'For Your Eyes Only' in 1981, had apparently undergone sex reassignment surgery just seven years prior to landing the part in the film.

True or False? True! Caroline Cossey was born in 1954 as Barry Cossey, and began taking hormones and changed his name to Caroline in 1972. By 1979, Cossey had a pair of breasts and had undergone the sexual reassignment surgery to make the transformation from Barry to Caroline complete. Just after 'For Your Eyes Only' was released in 1981, the UK tabloid News of the World outed Caroline as a man. But it's also important to note that Cossey wasn't really a legit "Bond girl," only briefly appearing in one scene and credited as "girl at pool."
