Netflix Narcos fans had good reason to wonder if, and how the series might continue without its central focus on Pablo Escobar, though the release of Season 2 gave a pretty definitive answer on that front. Now, the renewed focus is assured with a two-season order, along with confirmation of the new Narcos villain.

You’re warned of full spoilers through Narcos Season 2 from here on out, but the final episode made pretty cut and dry that even after Escobar’s death, agents Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal) and Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) were needed to take on the Cali Cartel that reaffirmed power in Pablo Escobar’s wake. Netflix’s two-season renewal didn’t confirm either actor aboard, though the teaser certainly cements Cali as their target.

At the very least, Netflix’s announcement did confirm that José Padilha (Elite Squad, RoboCop) and Eric Newman (Children of Men) will continue to serve as executive producers of the Colombia-set series.

Narcos had telegraphed early on that Season 2 would be the last for Wagner Moura’s Pablo Escobar, but can the series sustain two more seasons without him? All episodes are available to stream, with trailers below.
