It’s a fine line to draw, between actual history and dramatized spoilers, but Netflix’s Narcos seems to have abandoned any and all pretense of a major date with destiny going down in Season 2. That said, the new trailer and poster pivot into a very different kind of mystery instead – who pulled the trigger?

Ahead of the September 2 premiere, Narcos released a new full-length trailer for the second season, following – you guessed it – the final hunt for Pablo Escobar. There’s no question Pablo will meet his historical fate this year, but it’s worth asking who might fire the final shot. Not only that, but will anyone else bite the bullet this year?

So reads the synopsis:

Narcos chronicles the gripping real-life stories of the infamous drug kingpins of the late 1980s and the corroborative efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. Its gritty storytelling details the many, often-conflicting forces - legal, political, police, military and civilian - that clash in the effort to control cocaine, one of the world’s most valuable commodities.

Of course, there still remains the question of Narcos Season 3, especially as Season 2 experienced a bit of showrunner turnover. A new subject for a third season seems possible, if not sticking with the cocaine trade beyond Escobar’s possible death, though Boyd Holbrook (Gone Girl) and Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) might not then participate.

In the meantime, Narcos Season 2 will premiere all episodes on September 2, the teaser and photos for which you can find below.
