Despite an uncertain couple of months, we recently learned that USA's Callie Thorne-fronted football psychology drama 'Necessary Roughness' would indeed return for a third season, albeit with a somewhat reduced order than previous years. Even with USA's reluctant show of faith, it seems series star and 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' vet Marc Blucas has begun lining up his next project, taking a leading role alongside Tricia Helfer in ABC's upcoming Sofia Vergara-produced pilot 'Killer Women,' but who will Blucas play?

Marc Blucas may just have a thing for playing off of strong women, most notably with his early career in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer,' recently his role opposite Callie Thorne in 'Necessary Roughness,' and now against 'Battlestar Galactica' beauty Tricia Helfer for ABC's upcoming pilot 'Killer Women.' According to reports, Blucas has signed on as "Dan" for the potential project, a remake of Argentinian series ‘Mujeres Asesinas’ produced by ‘Modern Family‘ star Sofia Vergara.

As the only woman in the male-dominated Texas Rangers, Helfer will take the role of Molly Parker, beautiful and (figuratively) ballsy Ranger who knows how to get the truth and “isn’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers on her way there.” ‘Casino Royale’ director Martin Campbell will produce the series, directing the pilot episode as well, under a script from ‘The Playboy Club’s' Hannah Shakespeare.

It isn't known if Blucas' casting represents a bad sign for 'Necessary Roughness,' but the USA drama is still slated for a third season. What say you? Does 'Killer Women' have a shot with two sci-fi vets?
