Much as you may want to keep Daredevil in your sights, Marvel and Netflix are officially shifting the spotlight to our long-awaited Iron Fist. Not only has Finn Jones been confirmed as the fourth Defender, Danny Rand, but the first official teaser photo confirms yet another major member of the support cast.

Following weeks of reports, Marvel officially confirmed that Game of Thrones star Finn Jones will take the title role in Marvel’s Iron Fist, the fourth Netflix series, though the character has also been said to appear in Luke Cage. The Iron Fist Twitter account corroborated Jones’ casting in a new teaser memo to “Joy Meachum,” one of several supporting characters we’ve heard among the cast.

Says showrunner Scott Buck:

Danny Rand is a very complicated character. He’s a billionaire New York Buddhist monk martial arts superhero who’s still trying to figure out what exactly that all means. Finn is able to play all these levels in such an honest, revelatory way that as soon as I saw him I knew he was our Danny.

Added Marvel boss Jeph Loeb:

Finn wonderfully blends confidence with vulnerability, making him the perfect choice as he struggles to find his place in the world. Now that we’ve found our Danny Rand, we’ve completed our principal cast for the upcoming Defenders on Netflix and we are thrilled to continue to show audiences unexplored corners of the Marvel Universe.

For the moment, neither Marvel nor Netflix have publicly released a schedule for Iron Fist, The Defenders, or a second season of Jessica Jones, let alone any spinoffs. Scott Buck will showrun Iron Fist, while recent reports suggested Jessica Jones writer Scott Reynolds will also have a hand on the creative side.

We’ll stay tuned for more on Iron Fist in the coming weeks and months, but who might end up filling the other roles?
