During the Japan Expo in France, Nintendo announced a new variety of monsters for Pokemon X and Y, and revealed the first one you'll be able to catch in the upcoming 3DS game.

For the first time ever, there will be a steel/ghost type Pokemon included in the game. According to the official Pokemon page, Pokemon X and Y will see the debut of Honedge, a sword that appears to be possessed.

We don't know much else about Honedge at the moment, but the creature supposedly comes to life when a spirit takes over a sword that was once used by humans in the Kalos region. The blue cloth stemming from its hilt can drain energy from enemies, and Honedge also uses the cloth as an arm. A few screenshots show what appear to be some attacks in action, but that's where the info on Honedge ends.

It'll be interesting to see how this new creature evolves, and just how powerful a steel/ghost Pokemon will be in the game. Check out the screens below, and let us know what you think of the latest pocket monster in the comments below.
