New PlayStation 4 Details Reveal 500GB HD, Region-Free Play
Some new specs for the PlayStation 4 were revealed after Sony’s E3 press conference. In addition to more specific info about what’s included, we also found out what’s not included with the PS4 out of the box.
Tech site Engadget reported the PS4 will feature a 500GB HD, which will be completely replaceable should the user want to upgrade. That’s just how the PS3 works now. There will also be a headset included with the new console, as well as a built-in mono speaker in the controller. Each PS4 will also come with an HDMI cable (finally).
Now, unlike Microsoft’s Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 will not require the PlayStation Eye to work. As a result, the new camera peripheral will be sold separately for $59. The Eye is capable of capturing footage at 1280 x 800 resolution at 60 frames-per-second. Additional controllers (the PS4 comes with one) will also run you $59.
Best of all, Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida announced after the event the PS4 would be completely region-free.
And yes, PS4 is region free

That means you can import games without worrying about whether or not you’ll be able to play them. Coupled with the lack of online DRM, this is great news for avid importers.
