New 'Star Trek Into Darkness' Trailer Shows Off All Kinds of Action

EDIT
|

There's no getting around it: JJ Abrams has transformed the 'Star Trek' franchise into an action series. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is a question the fans can debate in the comments below, but the newest trailer for 'Star Trek Into Darkness' isn't at all shy about showing off the film's galaxy-spanning action.

Currently attached to prints of 'Oz, the Great and Powerful,' the trailer is only a little over a minute long but it crams in more action and explosions and jumping and fighting and wisecracks than all of the past trailers combined. We still don't know what 'Star Trek Into Darkness' is actually about, but we do know that it's going to have tons of elaborate, CGI setpieces, both on Earth and in the depths of space. What do you think? Are you a fan of a more action packed 'Trek' or do you miss the old days where this was the quieter, more contemplative answer to the likes of 'Star Wars'?

'Star Trek Into Darkness' opens on May 17th.
