Fans of New Super Mario Bros. U should be glad to know that they'll finally be getting support for the Pro Controller, giving them another option for controlling the action.

The sleuths at NeoGAF have uncovered a Japanese Miiverse post from the game's director, Masataka Takemoto, that announces a patch that will be going live in the near future. This patch will give Wii U Pro Controller support for the game and will also allow for New Super Luigi U to be purchased from within New Super Mario Bros. U.

This means that fans can enjoy playing the game using a modern controller akin to the ones used by other consoles and can purchase the Luigi downloadable content without ever having to step virtual foot into the eShop. Hopefully the rest of the world will be getting the patch, but there's been no word from Nintendo America just yet if the U.S. will.

There's no word on when this patch will go live, but it's expected to fall around the release of New Super Luigi U on June 20.
