Officially announced on Monday, DICE's Mirror's Edge will finally be bringing the fan-favorite franchise back in a big way on next generation consoles. Though EA was tight-lipped about details, it did reveal a bit about what would be different the second time around.

"What I can say is we're taking more of an action adventure approach on it than maybe before," Patrick Söderlund, executive vice president for EA Games label, told CVG in an interview. "First-person, running predominantly - this will be more of an action adventure game, but true to what the first one was to a large extent."

Söderlund added Mirror's Edge could only be made on next-gen consoles (yeah, sure), and that there were plenty of other concepts attempted to bring the series back, but it was only possible after this version we saw was pitched.

"On top of that, even more so we add new things to it," Söderlund continued. "The innovation... I can't talk about. I wish I could! Because I'm excited about it. The ID and vision for the game, coupled with the timing is what made it make sense. That's why we are making it."

Quite frankly, we don't care what had to be done for this sequel to be made. We're just happy we'll finally be reuniting with Faith once more.
