The good news continues rolling for TV fans, which this year seems to have endured far less tragic cancellations of its on-the-bubble, but cult popular series.  Not only have niche favorites like 'Community' and 'Fringe' lived to see additional season orders, but now spy action-thriller 'Nikita' has reportedly been ordered for an additional 22-episode season on The CW as well.

'Nikita' joins the number of CW programs already renewed and picked up to series, including today's announcement of 'Arrow,' 'The Carrie Diaries,' 'Beauty and the Beast,' 'Cult,' and First Cut.  Some weeks prior saw the renewal of 'Supernatural' for an eighth season, as well as '90210' and 'The Vampire Diaries,' leading fans to suspect that 'Nikita' might not see a third season.

First debuting at San Diego Comic-Con 2010, the Maggie Q-starring 'Nikita' faced somewhat low ratings even for The CW, but quickly grew into a fan favorite that deftly blended action with smart writing.  The show airs penultimate episode "Crossbow" tonight, before airing its season finale "Homecoming" on May 18.  Still awaiting news on renewal or cancellation are Sarah Michelle Gellar's 'Ringer,' as well as 'Hart of Dixie' and 'The Secret Circle.'
