After just finishing up the latest Nintendo Direct event last week, the company is already looking forward to the next installment. Due to stream just before E3 in June, Nintendo will be giving us our first looks at the next 3D Mario, Smash Bros., and the next installment of Mario Kart on the Wii U.

The news came courtesy of Nintendo America, which delighted fans after the so-so showing during last week's video. Fans have been eagerly awaiting news on the next Smash Bros. game, and coupled with a new 3D Mario and Mario Kart game, Nitendo could be setting itself up for a rather huge E3 as far as announcements go.

The Wii U could certainly use the boost from big Nintendo titles like those named. The console won't have much support from third-party developers through the rest of the year, and will need some major first-party titles to bring in any semblance of an audience. Sales for the console are tremendously low at this point, and with new systems from Sony and Microsoft arriving this holiday, Nintendo is going to need all the help it can get to stand out as a viable competitor during the next generation.
