It’s Official: ’30 Rock’ Will End Next Season
When even the star of the show is saying it's time to hang it up, you know the end is near. And so it is with NBC's long-running hit, '30 Rock.' Network chairman, Bob Greenblatt finally broke the news that everyone already knew: the upcoming seventh season of "30 Rock" will be the last.
"I know Tina, Alec (Baldwin) and the rest will deliver some of their best work,” said Greenblatt of the final 13 episode season. "We think the world of Tina and hope she will be in the NBC family for years to come," he added.
But what of Alec Baldwin, whose made headlines over the past few weeks for everything from saying it's time for '30 Rock' to end to accusing the 'Today' show of stalking him. Needless to say, Baldwin's relationship with NBC is tenuous.
And though Greenblatt suggested yesterday during a conference call that word of '30 Rock's' final season was premature, it seems shrinking ratings, a lengthy run and the conflict with Baldwin ensured the show's end.
With '30 Rock's' future now decided, Greenblatt and company will turn their attention to another celebrated NBC sitcom embroiled in behind-the-scenes drama, 'Community.' While the show will return, it's being moved to the dreaded Friday night and it's uncertain whether showrunner, Dan Harmon will return and in what capacity.
