We might get to relive Lara Croft's very first foray into exploring ruins in Tomb Raider on our iOS devices, if a recent release of the original game on the New Zealand App Store is any indicator.

An article on Touch Arcade points out that a port of the original game silently hit the New Zealand App Store. Square Enix made no formal announcements about the release, but it's priced at $0.99 and is available for both the iPhone and the iPad.

According to the game's description, "it’s the full, unedited, unadulterated experience from the classic release at a super-low price." The game even come's with two extra chapters that were included in the 1998 re-release, which should clock you in around 15 hours of gameplay.

Though we can see the virtual face buttons in the screenshot above, perhaps a more precise approach would be better for tomb raiding. It's a good thing then, that this release of Tomb Raider supports controllers like the MOGA Ace Power and the Logitech PowerShell. Now to wait patiently until 11PM EST to see if we can unearth this classic game from the App Store.
