‘Parks and Recreation’ Final Season Spoilers: What Does “2017” Hold for Pawnee?
We’re not quite ready to say goodbye to ‘Parks and Recreation’ in 2015, but our favorite Pawnee characters have moved well ahead to the year “2017” all the same. The seventh and final season will premiere on January 13 with a double-dose of said future, but why wait to check out the first two spoilery synopses of the season?
It’s been some time since ‘Parks and Recreation’ season 6 finale “Moving Up“ dumped us three years into the future of Pawnee, and though the flash-forward didn’t quite bring us up to speed on everyone, our first taste of the new episodes has plenty of ground to cover. Not only do we learn why Ben was looking so dapper in the preview, but also what fresh hell Ron’s ex-wife Tammy 2 (returning Megan Mullally) hath wrought in the future:
Leslie launches a competition with tech company Gryzzl for a large parcel of land, which she wants to turn into a National Park. April and Andy try to regain their spontaneity. Ben is recognized at a Bicentennial gala, where Tom delivers a speech in his honor.
“Ron and Jammy”
Leslie and Ron briefly put aside their feud to help old foe Jeremy Jamm escape the clutches of the diabolical Tammy 2. Ben vows to help April discover her true passion in life, while Andy and Tom travel to Chicago.
“Feud,” you say? Whatever could have torn the whole-assed friendship between Ron and Leslie asunder? Might this clip from Entertainment Weekly of the premiere’s latter half shed some light on the matter?
Elsewhere, we know of ‘Parks and Recreation’’s final season that ‘Mad Men’’s Jon Hamm, Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones will all briefly return to the fold, along with ‘Ant-Man’ star Paul Rudd. Additionally, Natalie Morales will reprise her role for multiple episodes as Tom’s ex Lucy, having not been seen since the second season, while Werner Herzog will also put in an appearance, for some presumably existential reason.
