‘Pitch Perfect 2’ Clips Bring Fierce Rivalry and a Very Sad Version of ‘Cups’

Pitch Perfect 2 is expanding the quirky realm of a capella competition, as the Bellas prepare to face off against rivals from around the world. We get to meet some of these new competitors (zee Germans) in the new clip above, and yeah, they’re pretty fierce (and funny). Universal has released an additional clip as well, but that one’s a bit more somber, and features a totally bummer version of “Cups.”

That’s Birgitte Hjort Sorensen as the shady singer from the German group — you may recognize her from Danish crime series Borgen or from the recent sci-fi flick Automata. In that clip, the Bellas are confronted by their snobby rivals, and many sassy quips are exchanged. Kind of. The Bellas are awkward, as usual.

In the below clip, Anna Kendrick’s Beca prepares to say goodbye to the group, and they all participate in a downbeat version of the “Cups” song she impressed them with in the first film.

Kendrick is joined by returning cast members Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Hana Mae Lee, Skylar Astin and Adam DeVine, along with newcomers Hailee Steinfeld and Katey Sagal. Elizabeth Banks is also back, pulling double-duty as the director of the sequel.

Pitch Perfect 2 arrives in theaters on May 15.
